The fact that there will be 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 diesel is not something new – in fact, it is pretty late and old school, if I may say. It’s based on the fact that diesel has been hitting the market and creating a major swept throughout the market and yet Chevrolet has just recently joining the trend.
So, what’s the hype about the 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 diesel, anyway? Well, Chevrolet has just recently caught having a test drive for (the believed) the upcoming new Silverado. Although the test has been done under a camo, most auto enthusiasts are sure that it is the Silverado pickup. And what makes the spy shot promising as the potential diesel engine is the fact that it got into a gas station and got a refill with green pump handle. One of the engineers from Chevrolet to fill the yellow gas container, which is believed to be for diesel.
Although the rumor about 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 diesel hasn’t been confirmed by the company, most of the experts believe that the new Silverado will be coming with V6 engine with 4.5 liter capacity. There is also a possibility that Chevy will update their smaller diesel four cylinder Duramax engine with 2.8 liter capacity that is used in Colorado and Canyon. In the event that Chevy is thinking about reducing the weight of the Silverado, it is possible that they may also use the smaller Duramax engine as the alternative option. Looking at the past work of Ford, it is highly likely that whatever engine used, it is going to match with the automatic 10 speed transmission.
Construction and Design
Experts believe that the construction of the new Silverado will be using premium and high quality aluminum. The spyshots, however, showed something different that the Silverado didn’t have any aluminum element for the bed. But it is possible that other parts will be using the lightweight metal, especially for fenders and hood.
Although you can’t really tell about the exterior look (not to mention also the interior cabin) because of the heavy camouflage, you can tell that there are some upgrades and improvements happening on the 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 diesel line. For now, you won’t be able to see the details of the grille or bumper or front side fender, but there is a new setup for the dual exhaust. From the spyshots, the dual exhaust design is tucked neatly under the stylish looking bumper. It seems to come with Rancho shocks, which are also used currently for Z71 Silverado.
Having the Chevrolet to finally jump in the diesel market is quite an interesting fact. RAM is being suspected to use a specialized diesel engine defeat device. The US authorities are now investigating the case. Ford, for another matter, is said to offer the diesel line for their F-150 line, start up in 2018.
There hasn’t been any official confirmation about the release date and the price but the 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 diesel will likely come in 2018, sold as the 2019 model.
