How to use your Auto Loan to Rebuild your Credit

For most people, credit problems start because of unpreventable hardship.  And we understand that establishing credit can be challenging.  Life can be difficult, but purchasing a vehicle should not.  At John Amato Hyundai Superstore, we finance your future not your past.  We try and take the stress and embarrassment out purchasing a vehicle and get you back on track with your credit with an auto loan.

The type of auto loan that you qualify for depends on your current financial situation including your credit.  Don’t just assume that because you have poor credit that your options are limited.  At John Amato Hyundai Superstore in Milwaukee we work with 30 different lenders.  These lenders are prime, subprime and we have the benefit of In-house financing that means we own our own bank and we do report to your credit bureau.

Whatever you choose to do , do not borrow more than you can afford. Your monthly payment should fit your financial reality.   So while you may want a certain vehicle with specific features, remember that your vehicle is your collateral on that car loan.  So if you can not pay the car payment , you will lose your car and further damage your credit.

The lower your FICO score, the less money will be lent to begin with.  This is a process to rebuild your score.  You have to start small and build your way back up.  So if you are presented with a reliable car to start out with a payment you can afford.  Take that opportunity to take the steps, make the payments on time, and when you have established yourself again , the next vehicle purchase will become easier to get that vehicle that you wanted.

Repaying your loan on time, for at least nine months to a year, will increase your FICO score.  But you also have to pay all of your other bills on time also.  Have the right mix of credit, and not too much debt.

So if you find yourself in need of a vehicle and you are worried about how to rebuild your credit.  Come to John Amato Hyundai Superstore in Milwaukee and let us assist you in the path of establishing and re-establishing your credit

What is Hyundai Brake Assist

John Amato Hyundai Superstore carries a vast inventory of Hyundai vehicles, in which all come with Hyundai Brake Assist technology.  This technology is an anti-lock braking system, which shortens braking system, which shortens braking distance and secures control of the vehicle while driving on slippery roads.  Hyundai continually advances their driver and passenger protections systems and is known for their cutting edge safety technology.

Brake assist systems work along side the anti-lock brake systems (ABS) on the vehicle to avoid wheel lock-up while making braking as effective as possible.  When the system is activated by a driver pressing the brake pedal hard and quick the brake assist system kicks in to help

What is Brake Assist and How Does It Work?

Hyundai Brake Assist is an active vehicle safety system designed to assist drivers in stopping their vehicle more quickly, when an emergency situation arises.  Studies have proven that in emergency stopping situations, almost half of all drivers fail to apply the brakes quickly enough or hard enough to use all of the braking  power their vehicle offers.  A brake assist system recognizes the signs of an emergency braking situation and add its support to the driver and the braking system.

How does  Hyundai Brake Assist Work?

Many consumers have seen Hyundai Brake Assist advertised but do not know how it works.  The answer is simple- the brake- assist system by Hyundai is designed to secure control of the vehicle and shorten braking distance in emergency stopping situations,  It does this by optimizing the distribution of the power to the brakes between the rear and front wheels, as their weight relates to rapid changes in the vehicle weight.  The brake override system makes the engine return to idle, and gives the braking system priority in the event of the driver, in a panic, stepping on both the brake and accelerator pedals at the same time.  The brake assist system increases the power to the brakes and shorten stopping distance in the event of emergency.  The traction control system stops the wheels from slipping, as well as maximizing the power of the vehicle to climb or accelerate.  All of these systems together assure a Hyundai driver of the ability to stop better and faster, and possibly negate the effects of an accident.

When is Brake Assist Important?

You might think that you have quick reflexes or have the ability to handle all of the situations on the road but people appreciate extra when they need it.  When brake assist is there for you in the event of an emergency stopping  situation , to assist you and your vehicle to stop quickly and safely.

2016 Hyundai Azera Information

Part of the allure of owning a luxury automobile is visceral, the status of driving a Lexus, Mercedes, BMW to name a few.  It takes years to design dominance to build up brand recognition.  Now its time to put the Hyundai Azera in that class.

The Azera, a fully capable and refined full-size sedan, has been on the market for more than a decade.  Near-luxury is the bet label for the Azera, which has many of the features of a typical luxury sedan without the price or the all over brand badges.

As the Korea-based car company continues to improve its product quality, the Azera is a fine fit for the Milwaukee area drivers who want lots of bang for their bucks in the large sedan segment

Its real world competition includes the Buick Lacrosse and Toyota Avalon.  In this weight class alone, the Azera packs a potent punch.

Azera Styling and Comfort

Two of the Azera’s biggest selling points are its interior roominess and eye-catching design.  Inside and out, the Azera, which was redesigned in 2012, is one of the swoopiest sedans on the road.

The exterior takes the basic design language of the attractive Sonata mid-size car and adds enough design details and embellishments to give this vehicle its own personality.  The grille is more dominant than on the smaller sedans Hyundai offers.  A huge panoramic sunroof contrasts elegantly to the Azera design.

This vehicle offers a profile with flattering angles for a vehicle.  Floating character lines help define the Azera, and chrome accents bars along the rocker panels add visual interest to on lookers.  Silver, 19-inch alloy wheels give the vehicle a commanding presence

Designers spent many hours making sure that the Azera has a buttoned down design.  The roofline alone gives the Azera a fast back look that melts perfectly into its sculpted deck lid.

The interior is modern, with many gentle curves in the dash and door architecture.  The driver seating position feels elevated and outward visibility is great.  The interior materials are of high quality.  Ranking right up with Lexus and Infiniti grade.

Standard features in the Limited is LED fog lights, electronic parking brake, leather seating surfaces, 8 inch touch screen, power rear sunshade and Infinity surround sound audio.

Finishing up

Although the Azera is not a major household name, it is to be considered

2014 Hyundai Accent GLS Preowned Option

Looking for a great fuel economy vehicle that does not break the bank in cost, Look no further than the 2014 Hyundai Accent GLS.   With 20 in stock at John Amato Hyundai Superstore there are several to choose from starting right around $11000.

The Hyundai Accent comes in two body styles, a five door hatchback and four door sedan.  As a subcompact vehicle the Hyundai Accent often competes against the Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, Ford Fiesta, Mazda 2 and Nissan Versa

When it comes to the comparisons The Hyundai Accent interior volume puts it in the large compact class.  The Accent is also longer in wheelbase and overall length, which means for the customer more room for passengers, cargo and an overall more smoother ride.

In 2014 the Accent received more standard equipment.  This includes one-touch turn signals, sliding sun-visors, and drivers blind spot mirror.  The audio system was updated in 2014 with improved voice recognition.

This vehicle had a complete cosmetic make over in 2012.  The latest accent has far more modern interior than the previous model, with metal accents on the doors, steering wheel and center console.  Sportier seats features superior cushions and bolsters.  The instrument panel, center stack, and vents are all easy to access and operate.

When looking for storage, the rated cargo capacity of the hatchback models is 21.2 cubic feet behind the folding second row bench seat and 47.5 cubic feet with the second seat folded flat.  Door and console storage is generous and upper level models have a sliding console armrest which is unusual and not found in other subcompacts in its class.

When considering the next subcompact, consider the Hyundai Accent and John Amato Hyundai Superstore .  The #1 Certified Hyundai Dealer in the State of Wisconsin.  We buy our Hyundai vehicles in mass amounts and pass the savings on to the consumer

2016 Hyundai Tucson vs 2016 Nissan Rogue

In the compact crossover market there are several vehicles to choose from.  The 2016 Hyundai Tucson is standing out against the competition.  Here is a quick comparison of the Hyundai Tucson vs the Nissan Rogue

The Nissan Rogue had its last redesign in 2014 while in 2016 the Tucson had a complete redesign done.  The Tucson gained more upscale styling with a more elegant look while the Rogue focuses on more passenger space

The Hyundai Tucson is offered with seating for 5 while the Rogue is available with 3rd row.  Keep in mind the 3rd row for seating in the Nissan Rogue is only sized for children.

The styling of both models comes out with the Hyundai ahead.  The new look of this SUV has premium materials inside and out.  The Tucson has been defined as elegant simplicity.  With the other models including the Limited which offers plush leather upholstery.  The exterior has also been redesigned  with well sculptured sheet metal to emulate more expensive models

Now speaking of performance the Rogue loses this comparison by a long shot.  The Hyundai Tucson comes with a 164 horsepower 2.0 liter 4 cylinder 6 speed transmission.    This combination offers good drivability and refinement.

Both models are made for comfort.  The Tucson has improved the soft quiet ride and the steering is reasonably communicate.  In the Rogue they do have a softer ride but the steering is less engaging than the Hyundai.  People also noticed more cabin noise coming from the Rogue when comparing it to the Tucson.

The Rogue used to beat out the Hyundai Tucson for safety until this year.  They Hyundai has already earned the IIHS Top Safety Pick.  A rear view camera comes standard and the active safety kit with automatic emergency braking available.

With over 30 of these Hyundai SUVs in stock and available, John Amato Hyundai Superstore has the Tucson you need.  Schedule your test drive today .

Leasing vs Buying Answers

When deciding to upgrade your vehicle several customers have questions on whether leasing or buying is the right route for them.

At John Amato Hyundai we are here to answer your questions to assist you with the process and decision

With the list below it may answer your questions on which route you should take

  Buying Leasing
Ownership You own the vehicle and get to keep it as long as you want it. You don’t own the vehicle. You get to use it but must return it at the end of the lease unless you decide to buy it.
Up-front costs They include the cash price or a down payment, taxes, registration and other fees. They typically include the first month’s payment, a refundable security deposit, a down payment, taxes, registration and other fees.
Monthly payments Loan payments are usually higher than lease payments because you’re paying off the entire purchase price of the vehicle, plus interest and other finance charges, taxes, and fees. Lease payments are almost always lower than loan payments because you’re paying only for the vehicle’s depreciation during the lease term, plus interest charges (called rent charges), taxes, and fees.
Early termination You can sell or trade in your vehicle at any time. If necessary, money from the sale can be used to pay off any loan balance. If you end the lease early, early-termination charges can be almost as costly as sticking with the contract.
Vehicle return You’ll have to deal with selling or trading in your car when you decide you want a different one. You can return the vehicle at lease-end, pay any end-of-lease costs, and walk away.
Future value The vehicle will depreciate but its cash value is yours to use as you like. On the plus side, its future value doesn’t affect you financially. On the negative side, you don’t have any equity in the vehicle.
Mileage You’re free to drive as many miles as you want. (But higher mileage lowers the vehicle’s trade-in or resale value.) Most leases limit the number of miles you may drive, often 12,000 to 15,000 per year. (You can negotiate a higher mileage limit.) You’ll have to pay charges for exceeding your limits.
Excessive wear and tear You don’t have to worry about wear and tear, but it could lower the vehicle’s trade-in or resale value. Most leases hold you responsible. You’ll have to pay extra charges for exceeding what is considered normal wear and tear.
End of term At the end of the loan term (typically four to five years), you have no further payments and you have built equity to help pay for your next vehicle. At the end of the lease (typically two to four years), you’ll have to finance the purchase of the car or lease or buy another.
Customizing The vehicle is yours to modify or customize as you like. Because the lessor wants the vehicle returned in sellable condition, any modifications or custom parts you add will need to be removed before you return the car. If there is any residual damage, you’ll have to pay to have it fixed.

Understanding leasing

When trying to decide whether to lease a new vehicle, it is important to understand how the financial mechanics of leasing compared to an auto loan.

When  you lease, you borrow the entire value of the vehicle.  For example when you drive away in a $36000 leased vehicle, you are immediately tying up the entire $36000 that the finance company gave to the dealership

With a loan  your payments are based on the entire cost of the vehicle.  For a 36-month loan on a $36000 vehicle, the principal portion of the payments averages $1000 month.  But with a lease, you pay back only the vehicle’s decline in value (depreciation value) while you are using it.

Since the $360600 vehicle might depreciate about $18000 over that same 36 month term, the principle portion of the monthly lease payment would be base on $500, about half as much as the loan.  Of course at the end of the lease, you have to return the vehicle unless you buy it out at the end of the lease

In both cases the net principal you pay back $18000

Add Finance Charge

In addition to the principal portion of the payment, there are also finance charges, the interest rate to borrow money.  These are much higher for a lease because you are paying back the cost of a leased car more slowly, $500 a month for a lease vs $1000 for a loan.  That leave a grater unpaid balance that is subject to the fiance charge month after month.

In exchange for the lower payments that come with a lease, you are paying a higher finance charge. That additional cost would be offset by the sales tax break lesses receive.

Does it make sense to lease?

The financial workings of leasing sometimes confuses people and it is not for everyone.

In some cases leases are the best way to get rid of the negative equity of your current vehicle loan.

When you opt for a longer term loan, for example 6 years, this puts you at risk of “being upside down” for some time. This is where you owe more on the vehicle that the vehicle is worth.  If you decide to trade in the car early the resale or insurance value of your vehicle will likely be less than you still owe.  If you like to drive new vehicles every few years. Leasing is a great option for you.
