When it was first launched in 2011, the fifth generation Hyundai Elantra turned heads, with its styling and class above features. For the launch of the sixth generation Elantra, Hyundai is offering exceptional value with the latest tech and connectivity in a package that if affordable, stylish, fuel efficient and recognizable. The 2017 Elantra has 3 versions with a range of tastes each with features often reserved for luxury vehicles.

Base Engine is more Efficient-
For 2017, the 1.8 liter I4 has been ditched in favor of a new 2.0 liter unit running generating 147 horsepower and the new base motor can be mated to a six speed automatic or manual depending on the trim you choose.
Hyundai states the automatic Elantra with the new 2.0 should receive an EPA fuel economy rating of 29/38 mpg city/highway.
New and Improved Six Speed Automatic –
With the only exception of the ECO model, the 2017 Elantra lineup uses a conventional six speed automatic as standard. Improvements have been made to the gearbox, which has been optimized for fuel economy with 3.3% increase in efficiency.
A new valve body has been also added to improve the transmissions responsiveness and a double angular ball bearing help minimize rolling resistance and friction.
Three Driving Modes
The three drive modes offered in the 2017 Elantra are like the Tucson, Sonata and Genesis. The normal mode is the happy medium for most drivers. Drivers then can switch over to sport for maximizing the Elantra performance. The Eco mode which puts the priority on getting the best fuel mileage possible
Extensive chassis and suspension revisions
For the 2017 Elantra, Hyundai continues to feature a torsion beam rear and McPherson strut front suspension with coil springs and gas shocks. Extensive changes have been made to the rear where the suspension geometry, shock abosorber angle and coil spring position have been changed for better stability, ride and handling. Also, the rear bushing diameter has been increased for better long term ability.
Updated Infotainment System –
A new infotainment system has been added to the 2017 Elantra and its is available with 2 choices of either 7 inch or 8 inch touchscreen. The interface has new functions such as a spit screen mode to display your navigation directions and music information at the same time.
Variants of the navigation comes with additional applications such as Pandora and additional voice control functions. On the higher grades the customer can add an 8 speaker Infinity by Harman Kardon audio system .
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay Ready-
The 2017 Elantra will come with Google Android Auto enabling Android smartphone users to integrate their mobile devices with their vehicle so there is no need to pick up your phone while driving. Apple CarPlay will be following so Siri can take over the vehicle’s infotainment system and even guide you to your destination.
Expanded Blue Link Telematics –
The 2017 Elantra has new features and upgrades of Hyundai Blue Link telematic system. This includes remote start with climate control, destination search powered by Google, and stolen vehicle recovery system. You can lock and unlock your vehicle using your smartphone.
Double the USB Ports –
Due to the increase of peoples needs of connectivity, Hyundai has answered by placing more USB Ports standard in the Elantra.
Active Safety Tech –
Since hitting the market, the 2017 Elantra is one of the very few entries in the compact vehicle segment to offer an extensive addition of active safety options. Such features like forward collision warning, lane keeping assist, lane change alert, blind spot warning with rear cross traffic alert and automatic braking with pedestrian detection will be available. This makes the Elantra one of only two entries that comes with automatic emergency braking in the compact class.
Interior Room –
The total interior room of the Elantra is 110.2 cubic feet. This makes the Elantra remains one of the roomiest entries in the compact car segment.
No matter if you have an SUV, or sedan , Hyundai has answered by also offering the the hands free Smart Trunk to the Elantra. NO other compact has this feature offered. With the key fob in your pocket and your hands full of items, all you need to do is stand near the back of the Elantra, and a few seconds later, the trunk will open.
