2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Milwaukee

Looking for a sharp SUV inside and out.  Check out the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport at John Amato Hyundai Superstore in Milwaukee.

The 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is sized between the three row Santa Fe and the Tucson.  This year’s Sport takes a little from each model to round out its potion as Hyundai’s popular 2 row SUV.

Despite being mechanically unchanged from last year’s model, this year it received new front fascia, headlights, trim panels, taillights, rear fascia and more.

In total the design has matured in the Santa Fe Sport into something closer to the redesigned Tucson.   The Sport is still rated the best looking of the Hyundai crossover SUV trio.  It has hexagonal grille bracketed in place with coordinated fog-lamps trimmed with LED lighting.  The side sills stand out in relief up and over the rear wheel wells, and the rear door handles sit will back of the rear wheel openings.

The interior of the Sport is further refined from the previous years.  Hyundai is stuffing the Santa Fe Sport with more available technology.  Which includes an available 8 inch touch screen  and electrolunenescent gauges

The base engine that comes in the Santa Fe Sport is a 2.4 liter inline 4 that is also used in the Hyundai Sonata.  The engine makes 185 horsepower.  It is equipped with a direct injection that is paired with a 6 speed automatic.

In terms of SUV size, the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is in the middle of the pack when compared to other SUV in its class.  It is close in size to the Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4, Jeep Cherokee and Chevrolet Equinox.  It does have a slightly larger wheel base than the Ford Escape.

The Santa Fe Sport has more room than most of its rivals.  It has great leg room and knee room for the taller drivers.  The seats have sufficient bolstering on the bottom cushion and well shaped backrests.  Power seat is standard on most versions.

The rear seats splits and folds to flex in its available space.  The seats fold into a 40/20/20  which means that the middle section can give way to narrow objects without losing seating space.

Hyundai Tucson receives top award by IIHS

Drivers in the market for a compact crossover who want protection not only for themselves but also for their passengers, should put the 2016 Hyundai Tucson on the top of their list.

In a recent study by the IIHS Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, shows that the Tucson was the only small SUV out of the seven studied that provided good driver-side and passenger side small overlap ratings.

The IIHS developed the small overlap test in 2012 to see what happens  when the front corner of a vehicle crashes into an object or another vehicle.  The test looks at a width of 25% on the driver and passenger sides.  IIHS also has a moderate overlap test, which involves looking at 40% of the width of the vehicle.  IIHS said that the results from the overlap test has prompted vehicle manufactures to make safety changes.

Hyundai indicated that it is pleased with the results of the IIHS study and said it shows Hyundai’s commitment to ensuring its drivers and passengers are safe and protected.   In 2014 more than 1600 people died from frontal crashes.

Since the small overlap crash test started 13 manufactures have made changes to 97 vehicles to improve safety.

Overall the Toyota Rav4 was the worst performer in the passenger side test according to the IIHS.  IIHS indicated that intrusion measure shows how well the vehicle can hold up in a crash, plus the greater the intrusion the more likely a person will sustain a serious injury.

4 indications your vehicle needs new tires

When should you change your tires?

As seasons change, it’s always a good idea to take inventory of your vehicle’s needs.  For many people that means routine maintenance and the regular oil change.  While these are important steps in the life of your vehicle, it is also a good idea to keep an eye on your tires.

Tread Wear

Not sure if your vehicle has low tread?  Do the penny test.  Simply put the penny with Lincoln’s head down between the tread of the tire. If you can see Lincoln’s head then  you tire needs to be replaced soon.

Tire Pressure

If you are finding yourself having to stop and refill your vehicle’s tires multiple times during the week, you might need new tires.  It’s normal for tires to deflate about one pound per square inch per month, but increased loss of pressure is a warning sign

Cracks

These typically go hand in hand with low tire pressure.  When a tire deflates, its normal for the tire to then crack and bulge out.  So if you are seeing cracks, gouges or bulges, you might have a slow air leak.  Either way, its a good idea to get it checked out to see if it can be repaired or you just need new tires.

Strange Noises

Hearing thumping or getting vibration when driving your vehicle down the road?  It’s a good idea to bring your vehicle to John Amato Hyundai Superstore Service Center as soon as possible.  A rear tire could be out of balance or there could be another issue.  Either way, get it checked out.

At John Amato Hyundai Superstore, you will find an exceptional team of experts dedicated on getting the repair right the first time.

Auto Financing 101- John Amato Hyundai Milwaukee

When choosing auto financing the cutomer may have two options : direct lending or dealership financing

Direct Lending may offer you

  • Comparisons- You have the chance to shop around and ask lenders directly about their terms before you agree to purchase a specific vehicle
  • Credit terms in advance – By getting financing before you purchase a vehicle, you will know your rate and terms when you start your shopping

Dealership Financing

In dealership offered financing, you get your financing through the dealership where you are purchasing your vehicle.  You and a dealer will enter into a contract where you buy a vehicle and agree to pay the amount financed and the finance charge.  The dealer may in return the contract to the bank , finance company or credit union, that services the account and collects your payments.

Dealership financing may offer you:

  • Convenience- Dealers offer vehicles and financing in one location, and often have extended hours including evenings and weekends
  • Multiple financing options – The dealer’s relationships with multiple banks and finance companies may mean it can offer you a range of financing choices
  • Special Programs – Dealers sometimes offer manufacturer-sponsored, low-rate or incentive programs to buyers.  The programs may be limited to certain vehicles or may have special requirements, like a larger down payment or shorter contract length.  These programs might be only certain credit rating statuses.

Before you Buy or Lease a Vehicle.

Determine How Much you Can Afford

Before you finance or lease a vehicle, take a look at your current financial situation to make sure you have enough income to cover your monthly living expenses.  Then, if you want to finance a vehicle, know the total amount you will pay.  This will depend on several factors, including the price you negotiate for the vehicle, the Annual Percentage Rate (APR), which may be negotiable, and the length of the credit contract.

Finance or lease a vehicle only when you are able to take on a new obligation.  Check the overall cost of the purchase of lease.  Consider the monthly payment in finance or lease negotiations.

The only time to consider taking on additional debt is when you are spending less than you take home.  The additional debt load should not cut into any amount you have committed to saving for emergencies and other top priorities.  Saving for a down payment or trading in a vehicle can reduce the amount you need to finance and reduce your financing costs.  In some cases, your trade in vehicle will take care of the down payment ton your new vehicle.

If you owe more on your vehicle then its market value, you have negative equity in your vehicle.  This is a consideration if you plan to use your vehicle as a trade in. The longer your new credit contract, the longer it will be before you have positive equity in the new vehicle – that is, before it is worth more than you owe.  If you have negative equity, you may need a bigger down payment to try and cover some of the inequity in you current vehicle and to get a qualification loan call from a lender.  If you take all of the negative equity into your new loan, your monthly payments will increase.   If you have negative equity, consider paying down the debt before you purchase another vehicle.

When You Apply For Financing

Most dealerships have a Fiance and Insurance (F&I) Department that will explain to you your fiancneing options.  The F&I Deparment mangaer will ask you to complete a credit application that will include :

  • Name
  • Social Security Number
  • Date of Birth
  • Current place of residence and length of stay
  • Current and previous places of employment and length
  • Occupation
  • Sources of Income
  • Total Gross Monthly Income
  • Current Debt Obligations

Most dealerships will get a copy of your credit report, which has information about your current and past credit obligations,  your payment record, and data from public records.  For each account, you credit report shows your account number, the type and terms of the accounts and the credit limit.  This also includes Credit limits, most recent payments and balances owed.  This also includes creditors summary of past due information, legal steps and and any collection obligations

The dealership will submit your application of credit to one or more potential lending institutions.  They will determine their willingness to buy your contract

The finance company will evaluate your credit application using automatic techniques, like credit scoring, where the factors like your credit history, length of employment, income and expenses may be weighed and scored

The potential lender will not deal directly with the customer when you finance through a dealer.  It bases its evaluation on your credit report and credit score, the completed credit application, and the terms of the sale, including trade in or down payment.  The potential lender will decide whether it is willing to buy the contract, notifies the dealership of its decision along with their stipulations of the loan and guidelines

Your dealership may offer manufacture incentives, such as reduced finance rates or cash back on certain models.  The dealer will also check to see if you qualify for any additional rebates or cash back.  Generally these discounted rates are non negotiable, and it may be limited by the consumer’s credit history, and may be available only on certain makes and models

Dealers who promote rebates, discounts or special prices will show you if or how you qualify for the incentives or discounts.  For example, some offers may include recent college graduates, military members etc.  These are set by the manufacturer passed to the dealer and the consumer must meet the requirements to gain the extra rebate.

What is Hyundai Brake Assist

John Amato Hyundai Superstore carries a vast inventory of Hyundai vehicles, in which all come with Hyundai Brake Assist technology.  This technology is an anti-lock braking system, which shortens braking system, which shortens braking distance and secures control of the vehicle while driving on slippery roads.  Hyundai continually advances their driver and passenger protections systems and is known for their cutting edge safety technology.

Brake assist systems work along side the anti-lock brake systems (ABS) on the vehicle to avoid wheel lock-up while making braking as effective as possible.  When the system is activated by a driver pressing the brake pedal hard and quick the brake assist system kicks in to help

What is Brake Assist and How Does It Work?

Hyundai Brake Assist is an active vehicle safety system designed to assist drivers in stopping their vehicle more quickly, when an emergency situation arises.  Studies have proven that in emergency stopping situations, almost half of all drivers fail to apply the brakes quickly enough or hard enough to use all of the braking  power their vehicle offers.  A brake assist system recognizes the signs of an emergency braking situation and add its support to the driver and the braking system.

How does  Hyundai Brake Assist Work?

Many consumers have seen Hyundai Brake Assist advertised but do not know how it works.  The answer is simple- the brake- assist system by Hyundai is designed to secure control of the vehicle and shorten braking distance in emergency stopping situations,  It does this by optimizing the distribution of the power to the brakes between the rear and front wheels, as their weight relates to rapid changes in the vehicle weight.  The brake override system makes the engine return to idle, and gives the braking system priority in the event of the driver, in a panic, stepping on both the brake and accelerator pedals at the same time.  The brake assist system increases the power to the brakes and shorten stopping distance in the event of emergency.  The traction control system stops the wheels from slipping, as well as maximizing the power of the vehicle to climb or accelerate.  All of these systems together assure a Hyundai driver of the ability to stop better and faster, and possibly negate the effects of an accident.

When is Brake Assist Important?

You might think that you have quick reflexes or have the ability to handle all of the situations on the road but people appreciate extra when they need it.  When brake assist is there for you in the event of an emergency stopping  situation , to assist you and your vehicle to stop quickly and safely.

IS THERE A DIFFERENCE IN CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED PROGRAMS?

Yes, there is a difference. With the increased popularity of certified vehicles, there has been an increase in the number of ‘certified’ vehicle programs available to consumers. This can lead to confusion over what the term ‘certified’ really means. How do different ‘certified’ programs compare?

Manufacturer Certified

All Hyundai Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicles are backed by Hyundai Motor America (HMA) and include the remainder of the 10-Year / 100,000 Mile Powertrain Limited Warranty??. Hyundai CPO vehicles are inspected by technicians at Hyundai dealerships to a 150-point* standard specified by Hyundai. Only HMA can offer a powertrain limited warranty on a Hyundai CPO vehicle. Repair service is available nationwide through any authorized Hyundai dealership in the United States.

Additional benefits of Hyundai CPO ownership include: a no-charge CARFAX Vehicle History Report; 10-Year / unlimited mile roadside assistance; rental car and travel interruption reimbursement; special financing rates through Hyundai Motor Finance; and 90-days of no-charge SiriusXM satellite radio “All Access” trial.

3rd Party ‘Certified’

Vehicles are inspected to the standards set by a 3rd party company (not the vehicle manufacturer) and additional vehicle component protection is provided by a vehicle service contract, not a warranty. Repair is typically handled through the selling dealer. Other repair locations may be authorized by the 3rd party company under whose certification the vehicle is sold.

Dealer Certified

Vehicles are inspected to the standards set by a particular dealer (not the vehicle manufacturer) and additional vehicle component protection is provided by a vehicle service contract, not a warranty. Repair is typically handled through the selling dealer. Other repair locations may be authorized by the dealer under whose certification the vehicle is sold.
